BETTINA Ehrlich-Bauer

Bettina Ehrlich born in Vienna 1903. Her mother was an artist and her father a director of an Austrian Coal Mining company. She studied at the Kunstwerbeschule. She married the painter/ sculptor Georg Ehrlich in 1930 and after periods as a textile designer in Berlin and Paris came to the UK in 1938. Her first English success as an illustrated book was the unfortunately titled, Show Me Yours. Cocolo was her great breakthrough, an immense and ecstatic book. She produced over 20 children's books during her career. Her husband died in 1966 and until her death in 1985 she supervised the conservation of his work.
