"Bertall" (Charles Albert d"Arnoux 1820-1882, illustrator, caricaturist and early pioneer of photography). He was too prolific and unimaginative to count as an original creator, but his perceptions of the visual aspects of the Commune provide valuable material. Although styised and by rote, several of his images have the appearence of being informed by his photographic work. The text is by J.E.an Englishman then living in Paris.
