There was always a temptation to make the Scrap Book a slowly developing aggregation of appropriate imagery which would eventually find its completion. My lectures provided the ordering and the sequences while the scrap books were assembled in a frenzy of undirected and pointless energy, with a conscious decision to avoid the judicious comparison or impressive visual proposition. Phil Beard identified it correctly as l'amour fou.
