| FUN was one several humour magazines launched to rival PUNCH. It is too close to the original to pose any threat - but it did have the entertaining Bab Ballads, written by W.S.Gilbert before his Sullivan days. The burlesques on the theme of the annual Royal Academy shows are worth re-visiting. Odd to find the abrasive and alien voice of Ernest Griset bringing a dash of Continental graphic sophistication. |
