(1860-1910)

W.J.Neatby (1860-1910) still lacks rigorous scholarship applied to his considerable achievements working with Doultons of London and particularly in the embellishments of Buildings in major English cities . I have long admired his decorative work for George Skipper's Royal Arcade in Norwich. He had his weaknesses in female profiles and apects of fiugure drawing, but his invention of decorative forms that sat on the architectural structures in pubs, theatres, shops and shopping arcades is second to none.
